Assessment
Art
Students will be able to apply the creative process to pieces of dance, drama, visual arts, and music. They will learn to create, reflect, respond, and analyze. They will also explore a variety of different topics within that subject area and how it connects to present day society.
Dance, drama, music, and visual arts are all assessed in different ways through final culminating activities.
French as a Second Language
Students will know how to use French to communicate and interact with others. Students will learn about Canada and its languages and cultures. Students will learn about the global community and the interconnectedness of the two languages. Students will also learn to be responsible and regulate themselves.
Students will be making connections, transferring various skills, using conventions, vocabulary, and terminology, communicating with a variety of audiences, and applying their knowledge. Students will be assessed in terms of listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Health and Physical Education
Students will learn about physical and health literacy. Students will develop resilience and find their sense of self/identity through the opportunity to learn, build relationships with peers, think critically, and practice communication skills. Students will also gain an understanding of what contributes to a healthy developments, personal responsibility and lifelong health.
Students will be tested in the areas of: active living, movement competence – skills, concepts, and strategies, and healthy living. There is a variety of assessment tools used for each of the strands of the curriculum document.
Language
Students will use their knowledge, listening, speaking, reading, writing, viewing, and representing to understand, critically analyze, and communicate a broad range of information. Students will become more familiar with the language they use and will learn techniques and strategies to assist them with their writing, reading, and oral communication skills.
Students will be assessed on oral communication, reading, writing, and media literacy. Students will receive multiple assessments to guide them through the usage of appropriate conventions of language, punctuation, grammar, and much more.
Mathematics
Students will build a solid conceptual foundation. They will apply their knowledge and further their learning by connecting, problem solving, reasoning and proving, reflecting, selecting tools and computational strategies, and representing and communicating. Students will also get to observe some integration of two subjects to better help the student(s) understand what is being delivered.
Students will be assessed in a variety of ways on the following strands in the math curriculum: number sense and numeration, measurement, geometry and spatial sense, & patterning and algebra. The students will also learn the mathematical processes that support effective learning.

Native Languages

Students will receive a general understanding of the nature and function of language and which will serve as the basis for the development of Native language skills. Student will learn the foundation of language knowledge in the Native language. Students will also learn to appreciate Native language and culture.
Students will be assessed on their ability to apply their knowledge through various strands. For example, Oral communication, reading, and writing are the three main strands that assessment will fall under and be created for.
Science and Technology
Students will be able to relate science and technology to the society and environment as a whole. Students will also be able to develop skills and strategies to know how to understand a scientific inquiry. Students will also understand the basic concepts involved with science and technology. 
Branching off of the main goals of the course, different assessment tools and strategies are created under the sub-headings or strands of the subject. For example, matter, energy, systems and interactions, structure and function, sustainability and stewardship, and change and continuity are all strands that students will be evaluated on in different ways.
Social Studies
Students will develop the ability to use concepts of disciplinary thinking where they will investigate issues and events. Students will also learn the criteria necessary to be able to evaluate information and evidence. Students will develop their personal attributes in order to be transferred to other areas of life. Students will build relationships. Students will learn about technology and use it wisely.
Students will be tested on and will learn about heritage and identity in the past and present communities of Canada. Students will learn about people and environments and the connection between them. Specifically they will learn about Canada’s interactions with the global community. Students will also learn about history and geography as it unravels in the curriculum.
